Got yourself an interview with Seco?

Wondering how best to prepare?

Read our top tips and alleviate any pre-interview worries you might have!

1. Do your research

Preparation is key! An interviewer will know if the candidate has taken time to fully read the job description, and has familiarised themselves with Seco Support as a company. What are Seco values? Do they align with your own? If you’ve worked in this industry before then you most probably have a good understanding of what the job role entails, however, if you are new it may be worth researching what a typical day in the life of a support worker is.

2. Turn up on time

In fact-turn up early!! Whether your interview is in person, or online, punctuality is vital. Not only does it show respect to the interviewer, but it also gives an insight into how you will be as an employee.

3. Have questions ready

“What are the shift patterns like?” “Am I expected to drive?” Is there personal care involved?”

Asking questions shows that you are genuinely interested in the role and also gives you an opportunity to cover anything that might have been missed in the interview.

4. Make sure your laptop/phone is set up correctly

With online interviews becoming more frequent, it’s a good idea to familiarise yourself with whatever application is being used (Microsoft Teams and Zoom are the most common). Most apps are mobile-friendly, however, it’s a good idea to have a trial run beforehand. And don’t forget to charge your device!

5. Relax

Interviews aren’t designed to catch you out. They are there to see if you are a good fit for the role, the person being supported, and the Company. There are no trick questions, and no experience isn’t a negative with Seco Support. With the same values and a willingness to learn, you might just be a perfect fit for the role!

Good luck!
